“…This is a battle that can’t really be won — you either got it Saturday night (or Sunday morning, or whenever your life was made a little brighter by viewing Colbert’s performance) or you didn’t. Personally, I’m enjoying watching apologists for the status quo wear themselves out explaining why Colbert wasn’t funny. It’s extending the reach of his performance by days without either side breaking character — the mighty Colbert or the clueless, self-important media elite he was satirizing. For those who think the media shamed itself by rolling over for this administration, especially in the run-up to the Iraq war, Colbert’s skit is the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you, Stephen Colbert!”

Thank fucking god for Stephen Colbert. If only once, those bastards had their golden bubble popped. And oh, I bet it stung. I hate all those bastards who said it was “disrespectful.” What I think is disrespectful is the way the Bush administration has smirked and sniggered while fucking America with an icepick.

Thank you Mr. Colbert. The stars were aligned and you seized that moment with all that you had to right this wayward ship we call the United States. Just for 20 minutes or so the MSM fog lifted and my eyes and ears received a beacon, a sign, even a revelation of the fact that this nation is starving itself to a civic death. Feed with corn starchy, empty calorie, shouting head and talking head, talking points you showed the clandestine collusion between this current administration and the press itself. A most incestuous relationship that on par with anything the FLDS can dish out.
Your rise to comedic prominence gave you the opportunity of a lifetime when you were booked for this self congratulatory affair. Seizing the Colbert National Zeitgeist you well into character full bore, baring all the fallacies of this administration. I just am so grateful for your art, for your patriotism, for irony for the gigantic cahjones needed for such an endeavor. Thanks alot!

It’s about time! I doubt that anything penetrated Bush’s defenses…he’s had a lifetime to perfect his denials of his failures…but those of us who are on to him appreciate his at least having to listen to what so many people think of him.
